What is Tooth Implant and How its Work

 

Dental implant is artificial structure that replaces your missing tooth, Dental surgeon place screw like device under your jaw bone, that supports the artificial tooth called crown.

Dental implants works somewhat same as natural tooth, that bear and transfer your chewing force to jawbone.

Dental implant procedure is short procedure with long healing time to take for complition of whole treatment.

Dental implant step by step procedure are explained follows

  • DIAGNOSIS : Dental surgeon check your gum health and your bite etc, than doctor tell you to take CT-scan (CBCT). That helps doctor to decide is dental implant possible or not in your case, CT-scan helps to identifies your bone height, bone weight, bone quality, surrounding tooth quality.
  • MOUTH PREPARATION : Your doctor remove your decayed tooth (if you have on implant place), place bone graft if needed.
  • SURGICAL INSERTION : Your doctor cut gum and and expose the bone, after that drill your bone with specific length and weight, than insert screw like device, than suture it. Recall after one week. You can't show screw.
  • SURROUNDING TISSUE FORMATION : after one week, doctor remove sutures and cut gum in round shape, than place cap like structure in screw. Than again suture it. Now you can see screw. And recall after 1 to 2 months.
  • CAP PLACEMENT :
    • if your implant would be fused in jawbone than after 10 to 15 days of implant placement your doctor gives you temporary cap ( tooth). That will help you in chewing and showing of tooth. Than after 1 to 2 months your parmenet tooth will be placed.
    • If your implant wouldn't fused in jawbone than you need to wait 2 to 3 month until your implant completely fused to your jawbone. Than your doctor take your tooth measurement by material tray and after few days your tooth will be placed.
